Wizard of Oz festival 2024. Oz-StravaganzaTM 2024 | May 31 -June 2. The magic of a cyclone. The mystery of munchkins, peeking through your fingers at the Wicked Witch of the west, or the curiosity of a talking scarecrow. Whether you came to the World of Oz through the original L. Frank Baum books, the 1939 MGM Movie, The WIZ on Broadway or the big screen, or Wicked at the theater, one thing is for sure…once you get a peek behind the curtain, there is no going back! The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and the ever-expanding OZ Universe have delighted fans in many forms since 1900, and now we welcome you back to the Birthplace of Lyman Frank Baum…the man who started it all. The annual Oz-Stravaganza Festival is the largest and longest running Wizard of Oz themed festival in the world. The magic lives on for a weekend every year in Chittenango, NY (just outside Syracuse). Join us the weekend of the first Saturday in June (May 31- June 2, 2024) for a trip down the Yellow Brick Road. There will be new friends to meet, entertainment to amaze, Emerald City shopping at its finest with vendors from near and far, as well as rides, games, a silent auction, and entertainment on the stage. There is also a costume contest, coloring contest, writing contest, special guests from across the OZ universe, and lots of surprises along the way!!

Land ~ Air ~ Sea June 21- 23, 2024
Lest We Forget is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting patriotism by honoring the men and women of the military. Its mission of "brightening the future by illuminating the past" will focus this year on the 80th anniversary of D-Day and Saipan, honoring World War II veterans and home front support. A special recreation of the Normandy and Saipan beach landings will commemorate the 80th anniversary. This two-day World War II recreation event will be in St Joseph and Benton Harbor, Michigan. The Southwest Michigan Regional Airport will host the WWII encampment, displays and demonstrations. The beach landings, along with aircraft fly overs and flamethrower demonstration, will take place in St. Joseph. All allied and axis units interested in participating must be members of a recognized re-enactment unit and pre-register. The event coordinators will determine, share, and enforce the authenticity and safety standards starting with the regulations found on the HRS website at: http://www.worldwartwohrs.org. Political flags or uniforms will not be permitted. D-Day 80th Anniversary ReenactmentJune 22 @ 9:00 am - 2:30 pm. WWII Boats will carry 150 reenactors onto the shore of Tiscornia Beach with planes overhead and bomb simulation explosives in the sand. After a parachute Flag Drop there will be a vivid visual of the Battle at Normandy. Then there will be a flamethrower demonstration, stories and other entertainment while the beach is reset for a 2nd Battle at Saipan in the Pacific. There is no parking at the beach. Follow signs for parking and ride the shuttle bus. All activities are FREE.Date: June 22 Time: 9:00 am - 2:30 pm.
